To Whom It May Concern,
It is my pleasure to write this recommendation for Matt Kaun. Mr. Kaun is a highly respected member of the faculty of the American Community School of Abu Dhabi. During his time at ACS Mr. Kaun has taught mathematics at the middle and high school levels. His teaching of Algebra, Geometry, Pre Calculus, Calculus, and AP Calculus is exemplary.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Kaun contributes his time and talents to the school in a consistent manner through his involvement in a variety of activities. He is a valuable member of the High School Faculty Board. He coached the academic games and forensic teams to very successful seasons. He serves at sporting events as a referee, score keeper, or timer, and volunteers at our three major school-wide events; the Holiday Bazaar, Fall Carnival, and Spring Fair. Mr. Kaun chaperones at high school dances and game nights and serves as an advisor to the junior class. This year he was an integral part of our senior trip, a four day community service project in the Eastern Emirates. In all activities with which he is involved, Mr. Kaun displays a positive attitude and keen insight.
One of the most obvious observations one makes in Mr. Kaun’s classes is that students are actively engaged in their learning. Students respond positively to his instruction and demonstrate considerable growth in their knowledge of content, as well as becoming independent learners, effective problems solvers, collaborative workers, and coherent communicators. He matches his instructional methods and materials to the developmental stages of his students and is adept at motivating them by reinforcing their efforts and progress. Mr. Kaun effectively integrates the use of technology into the learning environment. He is able to convey his compassion and concern for his students. As a result, he has established a good working relationship with his students and teaching colleagues. He takes pride in doing an exceptional job and demonstrates flexibility.
I highly recommend Mr. Kaun for an middle or secondary math position. He has had a very positive impact on our students, parents, and faculty at ACS.
